Attention 7th & 8th graders: CJSF Application Now Available

CJSF is an organization of students interested in scholarship, service, and citizenship. Students may participate in service projects, attend meetings, and attend periodic field trips. Students who have been in the club three semesters earn a gold seal for their promotion certificates and become honor members.

You may be eligible to join the California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF) based on your 1st semester grades in 7th or 8th grade.

Look at your report card on Parent Portal:  an “A” is worth 3 points and a “B” is worth 1 point. (P.E. & electives do not count.)  You need 8 or more points to join.

You may not have a D or F in ANY of your classes.

If you think you may be eligible, please fill out this application, attach a copy of your 1st semester grades, and turn them in to the front office by Friday, February 12.

Questions: see or contact Ms. Martin, Mrs. Layman or Ms. Phillips!

In an effort to reduce student stress and respond to the evolving instructional practices, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District revised its homework policy for the 2015-2016 school year in order to:

  • Limit the overall volume of homework;
  • Eliminate homework over breaks;
  • Develop a more effective system to communicate and implement the policy; and
  • Align with the Common Core State Standards and other legal requirements.

As a follow-up to this work, the District is surveying parents, teachers and middle and high school students on the effectiveness of the revised policy. Survey results will be used to help identify the best practices for homework and improve the implementation of our homework policy. The survey is anonymous and should take 5-10 minutes to complete. The survey closes on Tuesday, February 16. Below is a link to the parent survey:

2015-16 Homework Survey for Parents

If you have questions or concerns about your child’s homework, please contact your child’s teacher. If you have questions about the Homework Policy or this survey, please check the District’s homework policy page or contact Director of Instruction Jason Reimann at jreimann@srvusd.net.
